There aren’t many geese in San Francisco, especially near the Wharf. (IDK if I’ve ever explicitly indicated Thomas works at a cruddy seafood restaurant near Fisherman’s Wharf, and the bar he mentioned in Chapter 2 is the usual hangout spot for Wharf restaurant workers after shifts, and is only a few blocks away from there)
MEANT to be a truck/car but sure, it could be an angry goose with light up eyes, dreams are pretty weird.

Ah-ha! This explains the lower left shot back in Chapter 2 when he was asked what the last thing he remembered was. Well that kind of sucks.
I wonder what became of the cell phone. He had it with him when everything went down (though I don’t recall seeing it in the opening sequence).
